Azure Web Sites – A Great Prototyping Environment

Abstract: Microsoft Azure Web Sites – Microsoft’s other Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) product – are a great option for prototype/development environments. In this talk, we’ll look at the features of Azure Web Sites and related platform tools. We’ll talk about features that make your life easier as a developer and consider whether you can use Azure Web Sites to help you build apps that may or may not end up living in the cloud. Topics include:

  • Deployments and releases
  • Live editing in-browser
  • WebSockets
  • Remote debugging and monitoring
  • Scheduled tasks

Bio: Jared Faris is a developer and teacher who is focused on building great software to make companies money, improve peoples lives, and generally do good stuff. He’s worked with everything from legacy systems to modern languages like C# and Ruby, frameworks all over the place, and tons and tons of JavaScript. He’s a huge proponent of cloud computing and one of the organizers of CloudDevelop and he’s joining HMB to help make awesome dev teams even more awesomer
