Keeping up with Beacon Traffic

Abstract: With Apple making a push to make Bluetooth LE devices even more ubiquitous than their phone, the opportunity to overload a backend service becomes as easy as applying a sticker to a wall. Building your backend to handle the applications that are fed by these beacons becomes a necessity rather than a luxury. In this presentation, you will see some ways to make that happen so your users don’t get told about that great new product 30 feet after they’ve passed it.

Bio: Bill’s career has spanned many aspects of computing and at times has architected solutions from the perspective of data, networking, enterprise, and security – but is primarily an application architect. Most recent experience has Bill providing solutions around Mobility, Cloud, and Big Data architectures as well as API design and development.

Bill has been involved with technology since abandoning his desire to be an architect and stumbling into his first computer science class in 1985. Since then he has typically pushed companies into “what’s next.”

Inside Azure Resource Manager

Abstract: Keeping track of all the various resources used by a solution is a daunting task.  Azure Resource Manager enables you to group multiple resources into a single logical group.  With the ability to save the group as a template, we can reuse it for future solutions. In this session we’ll explore how the Azure Resource Manager can be used to better manage our Azure solutions.  We’ll dive deep into creating resources and manipulating the Resource Manager templates. In the end, you’ll be able to unlock new, powerful ways to manage your Azure resources.

Bio: Michael Collier serves as a Principal Cloud Architect for Aditi, a Microsoft NSI partner that focuses on cloud computing. He is a four-time Azure MVP and was the 2012 Azure MVP of the Year for his extraordinary community contributions.  Michael has had a successful 13-year career at various consulting and technology firms where he was instrumental in leading and developing solutions for a wide range of clients. He has a vast amount of experience in helping companies determine the best strategy for adopting cloud computing, and providing the insight, and hands-on experience to ensure they’re successful. Michael is also a respected technology community leader, and can often be found sharing his Azure insights and experiences at regional and national conferences.  Follow Michael’s experiences with Azure on his blog at and on Twitter at @MichaelCollier.
